Set your limits before you check in
Every casino in this guide checks government photo ID at the entrance. The minimum age is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, and 19 in every other province.
Treat the gaming floor as paid entertainment, like a concert ticket. Fix a budget for the trip before you leave home, keep it apart from the money for the room and meals, and stop once it is spent. The house edge means the casino comes out ahead over time, so never chase losses.
If it stops being fun, each province runs a free and confidential helpline. Casinos also offer voluntary self-exclusion; ask at security or guest services.

How we put the list together
Figures come from each operator's published information and were last checked in October 2026. No resort paid to appear here or to move up the order. Every property was weighed on the same six points.
- 1
One resort
The hotel and the casino have to share a site or connect indoors. Nothing that needs a taxi in between.
- 2
The rooms
How many there are, whether suites are on offer, and whether we would book the hotel for itself.
- 3
The floor
The size and mix of the gaming: slots, live tables and poker.
- 4
The food
Restaurants good enough for a proper dinner, and somewhere easy for later.
- 5
The stage
A real theatre or concert hall that books touring acts, not only a lounge.
- 6
The journey
How simple the trip is from the nearest city or airport, and what there is to do around it.
Questions before you book
- Is there an age limit for the gaming floor?
- Yes, and it changes by province: you must be 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, and 19 in the rest of Canada. Carry government-issued photo ID, because security asks for it at the casino door, hotel guests included.
- Can I visit a casino without booking a room?
- Yes. Anyone of legal age can use the gaming floor, the restaurants and the theatres. A room simply saves you the trip home after a late dinner or show.
- Which resort in this guide has the biggest hotel?
- Caesars Windsor, with 758 rooms across its Augustus and Forum towers. Parq Casino in Vancouver is second, with 517 rooms split between two Marriott hotels.
- Are any of these resorts tied to First Nations?
- Casino Rama is on the lands of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. River Rock has been owned since June 2026 by a partnership led by the Snuneymuxw First Nation's Petroglyph Development Group with Musqueam Capital.
- Do resorts pay for their place on this list?
- They do not. The order is our own editorial view of each hotel, its gaming, food, entertainment and how easy it is to reach, and we have no connection to any resort listed.
- What should I do if gambling is no longer fun?
- Call the free, confidential helpline for your province; every number is in the Play it safe section above. Security or guest services at any casino can also explain voluntary self-exclusion.
